Energetically Cleanse and Protect a New Home
Your home is your sacred space and it should always be filled with positive energy that makes you feel safe and at peace.
Energy permeates everything around us which means every single thing carries an energetic imprint, from your aura, to the environment and even objects. Practicing a spiritual cleanse on a regular basis can help clear unwanted energies to improve your overall well-being leading towards a happier and healthier life.
When negative energy lingers it creates an environment that can make you feel anxious, drained, or tense. How often you’ll want to cleanse your space will depend on the level of activity. You’ll intuitively know when it’s time to cleanse, however a good rule of thumb is to make it a habit every 3 weeks. You’ll know when the space has been cleansed when you feel lighter, refreshed and more uplifted. You can also hire a professional intuitive/reiki practitioner who specializes in clearing homes or office spaces.
How to Cleanse Your New Home
The ideal time to do a deep house cleansing is when you move into a new home. You’ll want to clear the energy from the previous owners. To do this, first invite positive energy by giving your home a good scrub. I recommend cleaning every square inch of your new home. You can give your walls a fresh new coat of paint, sanitize, disinfect, dust, vacuum, and deep clean everything!
Next, you’ll want to cleanse your space using a smudging tool preferably with sustainably sourced Palo Santo, ceremonial white sage, incense, a room clearing spray made of essential oils, or use high frequency sounds with either a singing bowl, crystal bowl, tingsha, or tuning fork. As you liberally smudge the space, allow the smoke to cover the perimeter and center of the space, especially the closets where energy tends to stagnate. You’ll also want to open the windows to bring in fresh air and let out the smoke. Be sure to use a fire safe bowl to catch any ambers that may fall from the sage or Palo Santo. If you’re in a condo or apartment you might want to opt for light smudging combined with an essential oil room spray specifically designed for space clearing.
Keep in mind that with every energy work, everything is done with intention. As your cleanse your space, set the intention to remove all energies that no longer serve the space and only invite positive energy that is aligned with uplifting and healing energies of love and light. You can also personalize your intention with the energy you want to invite into the space, such as an atmosphere of inspiration, creativity, relaxation or anything that calls out to you.
Other ways to cleanse and balance a new home is to add a touch of Feng Shui. Do what calls out to you, whether it’s decluttering your space for a minimal and Zen feel, add more plants, ensure good air quality, add non-toxic candles, infuse the space with solfeggio frequency healing music, visualize white/indigo light surrounding your space, or invite more colours & crystals into your space.
A simple way to invite new energy is to switch up your décor every season and experiment with colours. Colours can play a huge role on your mood. For example, red invites more passion, orange invites creativity, yellow invites joy, green invites healing, pink invites love, blue invites tranquility, purple invites imagination, white invites purity, and black invites power. You can also use colour through the use of crystals.
Crystals can create a powerful crystalline healing space and restore equilibrium if used intentionally. Each crystal has own unique vibration, frequency, wavelength, just as each person has their own unique energetic frequency. Some will respond to crystals more than others so if it calls out to you, work with it! You can choose any crystal that you’re drawn to and consider it’s healing properties, meanings and purposes. For example, you’ll want to keep protective crystals such as selenite, black tourmaline, black obsidian, iron pyrite, smoky quartz, or clear quartz around the entryways. You can also try using calming or protective stones in the bedroom such as rose quartz, amethyst, labradorite, howlite, or moonstone.
As you continue to do self-healing and energy work within your own aura, your space will reflect the same peaceful energy. Take the time to think about your home and the energy it projects. A healthy space will feeling inviting, calm and grounded. Let your home be a place that nourishes the spirit.
